National Postdoc Appreciation Week is on in September 18-22, 2017! Join the UCI Postdoctoral Association and the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) in recognizing the significant contributions that postdoctoral scholars make to U.S. research and discovery.
This year, events are hosted by the (OPA) during National Postdoc Appreciation Week.
Monday, September 18 (8:30 – 10:00 AM) – Donuts and Beverages

Start your week out with a treat, plus get questions answered about working at UCI and living in Southern California. Campus orientation folders are provided for incoming postdocs.
Tuesday, September 19 (12:00 – 1:00 PM) – Charting Your Course with an Individual Development Plan (IDP)
Natural Science II – Room 1201
Get some pointers on IDPs from a panel of fellow postdocs and see some examples. We will start the discussion with your “T competencies”, some examples of IDPs and steps to complete an IDP. Then five fellow postdocs will:
- Discuss their approach to the IDP and career planning
- Describe how they are planning their career with their mentor(s) help
- Answer your questions
Light lunch is provided.
Thursday, September 21 (3:30 – 6:30 PM) – UCI Campus Resource Fair for Postdoctoral Scholars
Natural Science I, Room 1114
There are a myriad of resources available to you at UCI that will facilitate your research, and professional & personal development. Representatives will be at tables ready to provide materials and answer your questions.
- 3:30 – 5:00 PM: Campus groups will be present to discuss UCI resources and answer questions
- 5:00 – 6:30 PM: Light dinner with fellow postdocs
